The project comprises of 10 organisations from 8 different European countries. The project partners represent all the key players that are involved in the career guidance process – from the penitentiaries, to professional bodies, NGOs, and the corporate sector.

West University of Timisoara – UVT

As the largest higher education and research center in Western Romania, WUT has 11 faculties and a Teacher Training Department, 85 study programs at Bachelor Level, 120 study programs at Master level, and 19 Doctoral Schools. Out of these, over 20 Bachelor, Master and PhD study programs are offered completely in English, French or German.

The University’s strong focus on quality within an increasingly international and globalized academic world is endorsed by UVT’s affiliation to the European Association of Universities (EUA) and the International Association of Universities (IAU), as well as many other international bodies and associations (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, European Association for International Education, European Association of Erasmus Coordinators, etc).

Gherla Prison -PGCJ

Gherla Penitentiary is a high-security penitentiary that custody women, men and young people who execute their punishment in maximum security regime, closed regime and open regime. One of the main purposes of detention is social reintegration, education, and re-education of inmates so that after their release they can reintegrate into the communities they come from, respect the generally accepted social norms and lead a decent life.

For this purpose, the Gherla Penitentiary has an Education and Psychosocial Assistance Service. The staff of Educational and Psychosocial Assistance Service has professional training and specializations covering several areas such as: math, chemistry, history, physical education and sports, psychology, social work, theology, finance and many other qualifications.

Public University of Sassari. The University of Sassari was founded in 1558. Today, this medium-sized University, with over 10,000 students and around 700 scholars, consists of 13 Departments, which also collaborate with a number of academic and research centers and institutes. In addition to its 50+ institutional courses, it also offers a wide range of post-graduate study and research activities, including PhD courses, medical specialization schools, advanced training programs and international exchange projects.

International Corrections and Prisons Association

The International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA) is a non-governmental organization in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) for corrections and prison professionals. Founded in 1998, ICPA represents a membership based in over 80 countries around the world dedicated to improving global understanding and professionalism in the sector. The ICPA is a highly effective and efficient way of co-coordinating international contacts on issues of penology and criminal justice as it has strong links with key players at senior levels in all the continents. Over recent years, the Association has produced a Manual for Peacekeepers dealing with corrections; developed a Basic Training Manual for Correctional Officers; produced a Planning Manual (for facilities) and it conducted support work in 2006/07 in the Republic of Georgia and Barbados.

Association for the Regional Initiatives Development (ARID) is a private non-governmental organization oriented on the promotion and development of the idea of lifelong learning. The scope of the Association’s activities covers a variety of topics. Pontifical University of John Paul II – UPJP II

The Pontifical University of John Paul II in Cracow is a university at which about 2000 students currently study. There are 6 faculties within its structure. One of them is the Faculty of Social Sciences, which includes, among others, the Institute of Family Sciences and Social Work, in which approx. 40 full-time employees. Both institutes offer both bachelor’s and master’s studies.

The programs of both fields of study concern, among other things, threats to human social functioning. Many subjects focus on exclusivity and inclusion of the individual. Teaching and research workers have very good substantive and practical preparation, which results in the fact that our graduates are employees sought after on the labor market.

Merseyside Expanding Horizons Ltd (MEH) is an established voluntary and community sector organization working in the field of social inclusion on Merseyside and is a key stakeholder and influential support body. MEH focus on Social Inclusion through partnership to deliver projects supporting disadvantaged individuals into employment, training and self-employment and social enterprise development through a wide range of informal learning methodologies and therapeutic interventions.
